Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed Ms. Shafaath Ahmed Zahir as the ministry's Communications Strategist.
Ms. Zahir was appointed for the position after the resignation of Mr. Mohamed Miuwan, the ministry's Director of Communications.
President's Office, while confirming the appointment, said Ms. Zahir's role ranks the same as a Deputy Minister.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Zahir has worked as Assistant Director at President's Office. She has also worked as a both a financial analyst and a business analyst.
Ms. Zahir is also the founder and current president of Women and Democracy, a local NGO advocating on the role of women in a democratic society. She is also recognized for her fervor and advocation of women's rights.
The ministry's new Communications Strategist, Ms. Zahir had attained her Masters Degree in Finance and Investment from the University of Nottingham.
The ministry's outgoing communications head, Mr. Miuwan has been a former journalist before transitioning into government sector.
