Forbes, the renowned global business brand, ranked Ooredoo Group as the 25th among ‘The Middle East’s Top 100 Companies 2020’.

The Qatar-based telecommunications giant hailed the achievement as the result of efforts by its branches across the Middle East, North Africa and South East Asia.

In addition to the regional ranking, Forbes also profiled Ooredoo Group under its 'Global 2000 Highlights', which takes readers 'Inside the Numbers of the World’s Largest Public Companies’. The highlight noted that by the end of March 2020, Ooredoo was one of the top three regional telecommunications operators, with sales worth USD 8.2 billion and profits amounting to USD 611 million.

"This latest accolade reflects our phenomenal growth and vision. We have taken giant leaps since the company was founded as the Qatar National Telecom Service in 1949, with one Doha telephone exchange and a capacity of just 50 lines - as Forbes correctly deduces from its thorough overview of the region", said Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani, the Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Group.

Forbes magazine further highlighted that Ooredoo Group employs over 16,000 people, with football superstar Lionel Messi as its global brand ambassador.

Moreover, Ooredoo noted that it has developed a "robust response" to the economic challenges brought about by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, retaining assets worth USD 24.2 billion and an overall market value of USD 5.2 billion.

“Our teams around the world are working together as one to enable the communities we serve by providing much needed relief measures, innovative solutions and digital services", added Sheikh Saud Bin Nasser Al Thani.
