Maldives' youth team's journey in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) under 20 Qualifiers has come to an end after losing to Yemen today.

The match, which took place this afternoon saw Yemen score three goals against Maldives; two in the first half and the third goal at the 90th minute. Unfortunately for Maldives, the match ended with a score of 3-0.

In the qualifiers which are being held in Indonesia, Maldives played in group F and played its first match against the host country. However, that match too ended with a loss for the equatorial island nation, with a score of 4-0.

Meanwhile Yemen played its first match against East Timor, also securing a win. Indonesia and East Timor will be facing off against each other later today.

The AFC Under 20 Cup will take place next year with the top teams from each group of the qualifiers, and five teams with the top score amongst the teams that placed second in each group.

Maldives will also play against East Timor this coming Sunday.

Maldives' youth team faced significant challenged during the qualifiers this time, as multiple players were unable to make it to Indonesia due to A-Level exams coinciding with the event. Due to this, the team were missing key players, including the first 11 players who played in the under 20 SAFF Championship last month in Nepal.
