The Male' City Council announced on Monday that it had awarded the repair works of the asphalt-laid portions of Boduthakurufaanu Magu to China's Hunan Construction Engineering Group for MVR 1.4 million (approximately USD 91,000).
The project was contracted for a total of MVR 1,496,800 and is expected to be completed within 30 days.
Meanwhile, Malé City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the group will repair a total of 32 different locations within a period of 10 days.
The Mayor added that several parts of Boduthakurufaanu Magu had been badly damaged and in need of repairs since it had been left unattended since the asphalt laying back in 2018.
Asphalt was laid on Boduthakurufaanu Magu from Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal up to the Malé Industrial Village during the administration of former president Abdulla Yameen. The road was developed to facilitate vehicular traffic to the Sinamalé bridge.
