President's Office revealed today that Hassan Zihaan, the Deputy Minister of Transport Ministry, was not suspended but voluntarily stepped away from work.
When asked about the speculations that Zihaan may have been suspended, Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office Heena Waleed confirmed that he was not suspended.
"He relieved himself from work following an administrative notice," Heena said.
However, no further details were revealed.
Zihaan was appointed as Deputy Minister of Transport Ministry in November of last year.
Prior to his appointment, Zihaan served as a naval architect at the Maldives National Defence Force with the rank of First Lieutenant. However, he was dismissed from this position during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration. Following his dismissal, he criticized the government extensively and made several allegations.
