Flyme, operated by Villa Air, conducted a chartered flight to Saudi Arabia on Sunday.

Flyme Managing Director Abdulla Nasheed revealed that the chartered flight departed from Velana International Airport (VIA) at approximately 0745 hrs. He did not disclose the identity of the customer that requested the service.

This is the second international flight Flyme has operated after the airline launched international operations on September 4 by landing a flight at Bandaaranaike International Airport in Sri Lanka.

According to Flyme, the company will commence regular transfers between VIA and Ratmalana Airport as soon as Sri Lankan borders reopen, while efforts to initiate scheduled flights to India are also ongoing.

Following a six-month hiatus, Flyme restarted domestic operations on October 1. However, due to the fall in air traffic caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline only manages scheduled flights between VIA and Maamigili International Airport at present.

Founded in October 2009, under the leadership of Jumhooree Party leader Qasim Ibrahim, Villa Air currently possesses a fleet of four ATR aircraft, consisting of one 72 seat ATR 72-600, two 68 seat ATR 72-500 and one 48 seat ATR 42-500.
