100mm rainfall in Male', Hulhule' and Gemanafushi on Saturday

MET Office records indicate that Male', Hulhule' and Gaafu Alif Atoll Gemanafushi all saw 100mm rainfall during Saturday's rain showers.

MET Office records indicate that Male', Hulhule' and Gaafu Alif Atoll Gemanafushi all saw 100mm rainfall during Saturday's rain showers.

Saturday's heavy rain followed soaring temperatures which reached record highs in recent weeks, with last Wednesday bringing a new record: an apparent temperature of 48 degrees Celsius in Male' area.

Statistics shared by the MET Office today are as follows:

- 103.5 mm rainfall in Male'

- 108.4 mm rainfall in Hulhule'

- 100.8 mm rainfall in Gemanafushi

The next highest amount of rainfall is recorded in Fuvahmulah, reporting 86 mm rainfall.

Alif Alif Atoll Thohdhoo saw 81mm rainfall, Kaafu Atoll Dhiffushi saw 54.7 mm rainfall and Addu Atoll Gan saw 52.5mm rainfall.

Hulhumale', meanwhile, experienced 47.5mm rainfall.

Yesterday's rains caused damage to 122 places in Male'. Additionally, 20 houses in Shaviyani Atoll Feevah, 3 houses in Foakaidhoo and 1 house in Thaa Atoll Vandhoo sustained damage.
