Family Court in Malé City has faced significant amount of damage due to the heavy downpour and torrential rainfall that occurred last night.
According to a source who spoke with Mihaaru News, a number of documents and computer systems have been affected by extensive water leakage from various sections of the Family Court's roof located in Henveiru ward.
"The Family Court is down. Water also entered the server room, causing damages. Water has found its way into the server's switch system, and some documents were also destroyed," he said.
The Family Court building, located near Senahiya Hospital, handles all matters related to marriage and family affairs. It is responsible for maintaining all documents related to marriages and marriage-related records.
It has come to light that the Family Court had previously reported issues concerning ceiling leaks to relevant authorities. The Family Court falls under the purview of the Department of Judicial Administration.
"If a major storm like this occurs, we have to be in this situation. We had placed buckets in different places to prevent flooding, but some items were still damaged," he said.
