President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared Thursday, February 3, as a public holiday.
President's Office said this decision was made as it was the day the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih would be giving his presidential address at the parliament.
Since 2019, the President’s Office has been declaring the first sitting of the parliament a public holiday each year.
Former President Abdulla Yameen did not declare public holidays on the day he gave his presidential address. However President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom did declare the first sitting of the parliament a public holiday over his 30-year presidency.
