The Attorney General's Office decided last night to withdraw its appeal in the Supreme Court against disclosing receipts detailing the expenses of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's trip to the United States.
The High Court last year had upheld the Information Commissioner's order for the disclosure of the expenses incurred during Solih's visit to deliver a speech at the United Nations in 2022. The prosecution had appealed this decision in the Supreme Court under the previous government.
At yesterday’s hearing, the prosecution argued that it did not need to disclose the receipts for the trip expenses, claiming the travel expenses had already been paid. Despite not disclosing the receipts, the prosecution maintained that the details of the expenses had been released.
