A Blacksail snake mackeral or more commonly known as "Black snoek" caught in the Maldives was recently acknowledged by the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA) for its size, listing it in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The black snoek measuring 68.5 inches (5.7 feet) long, weighing a total of 14.06 kilograms was caught by an American fisherman on 18th March 2022, from a depth of approximately 300 meters near Addu.

The American fisherman was testing jigging and rod setups by Singapore's famous jigging brand 'Temple Reef' when he caught the behemoth black snoek.

Sharing a picture of the fish, Tristan captioned that the fish has been officially identified as the "IGFA All-Tackle World Record Black Snoek."

The previous record for the largest black snoek catch was recorded in 2017; a Japanese fisherman named Tokuonoshima had caught one that weighed 12.50 kilograms.
