President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured that he will find solutions to fishers complaints within three months.

The President, on a recent visit to several islands to Huvadhoo atoll (Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls) to inaugurate developmental projects, said that arrangements will be made to sell ice on credit through FENAKA Corporation Limited and oil through State Trading Organisation (STO) in an effort to fulfil his pledge to fishers. He made the statement while speaking to a crowd in Dhaandhoo island.

The President said that oil and diesel will also be made available on credit.

"In the next two weeks, fishermen will be able to get the required amount of oil through STO. Within a few months, a temporary solution will be found," said President Solih.

To officially celebrate this year's fishermen's day, President Solih had visited Gaafu Dhaalu atoll Fares-Maathodaa. During his meeting with the fishers of the atoll, they raised concern about the difficulties in selling their catch, the delays in payment and the difficulties in obtaining ice and diesel.
