According to the Ministry, the main objective of the day is to recognise fishermen, their families and the industry as a whole, for their contributions to advance the sector.

As part of its efforts to celebrate fishermen, the Ministry held a pole and line fishing expedition for youth on Friday, as well as the 'Fisheries Expo'. Moreover, the government, in partnership with the private sector, is preparing to host a fish gutting and fillet competition on Monday.
