The 34th InfoFish Governing Council meeting commenced Monday at Champa Central Hotel in capital city Male'.
Chaired by Maldives, the three-day meeting is being held from December 16 to 19.

In addition to the Fiji Fisheries Minister, Maldives' Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture, Zaha Waheed, delivered the council meeting's keynote address.

Intergovernmental Organization for Marketing Information and Technical Advisory Services for Fishery Products in the Asian and Pacific Region or 'InfoFish' is a fisheries organisation established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). There are 13 member states of InfoFish, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
A total of seven member states, representatives from FAO and two observers from international agencies are attending the meeting.
