The Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Agriculture, on Thursday, warned against carrying out research and survey activities in the Maldivian territories, without prior authorisation.
The ministry issued a warning stating that different parties have been studying the Maldivian territorial sea in violation of the Marine Research Regulation (Regulation No: 2020/R-75).
The notice highlighted that some had requested official permission but begun conducting their surveys before it was granted.
The ministry reiterated that under the Marine Research Regulation, permission to conduct a study of Maldivian waters must be obtained from the ministry two months in advance.
Therefore, the ministry reminded to follow due procedures while conducting any surveys in the Maldives. Permits are available through the portal: https://marineresearchpermit.egov.mv.
