Largest Maldivian contingent to head for 25th World Scout Jamboree

The Maldives is set to send its largest contingent ever to the 25th World Scout Jamboree to be held in South Korea.

President and Chief Scout, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, along with the First Lady and Chief Guide, Fazna Ahmed, and Minister of Education and President of the Girl Guides Association, Dr. Aishath Ali, attended a special ceremony on Monday, July 24, to meet the contingent participants.

This year, the Maldives is sending a contingent of 425 individuals including 193 scouts, 22 scout leaders, 21 contingent management members, 23 international service team members, 149 girl guides, 15 guide leaders, 4 contingent team members.

The 25th World Scout Jamboree is expected to welcome a total of 50,000 scouts from over 170 different countries.

The international service team members are scheduled to depart for South Korea on July 28, while the girl guide batches will leave on July 30 and 31. The scout batches, along with their leaders and management team members, are also expected to depart between July 28 and 31.

The jamboree is set to take place from August 1 to 12 in SaeManGeum, Jeollabuk-do, marking the second time that the Korea Scout Association will be the host. The association previously hosted the 17th World Scout Jamboree in 1991.
