First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Saturday, presided over the opening ceremony of the symposium on reviewing the national curriculum, held at Dharubaaruge Convention Centre.

During her address, First Lady Fazna stated that the symposium would facilitate the formulation and incorporation of principles intended to create a generation of citizens who would actively contribute to the nation's development.

Additionally, the First Lady stressed that the symposium would tackle matters of national importance and appealed to all participants to make a sincere contribution.

The First Lady went on to speak about how the education system should contribute to the student population. She also highlighted the importance of students being taught to think critically and view things from different perspectives.

First Lady Fazna appealed to all teachers to provide a safe environment for students and prioritise the instalment of good values.

Furthermore, she expressed the belief that education should not be limited to classrooms alone and urged educators to set positive examples for students through everyday actions.

Reviewing the national curriculum is one of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s electoral pledges, which is set to be completed within the first 100 working days of his administration.
