President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sat down with relevant authorities on Tuesday to discuss the preventive measures to be taken in Maldives, over the Novel Coronavirus outbreak in China.
According to the President's Office, he enquired after the special task force assembled to take preventive measures and actions to prevent an outbreak in the country, and discussed the procedure to be followed in the event an infected individual is found in Maldives.
The president also queried the authorities on what was being done to ensure the safety and security of the Maldivians living in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China.
Further, President Solih urged the authorities to pay close attention and carefully monitor the situation.
Attending the meeting were Cabinet ministers, ministers at the President Office, health sector personnel, and officials from Maldives National Defence Force, Maldives Police Service and the Disaster Management Centre.
Ministry of Health declared last Sunday that there have not been any suspected cases of the virus in Maldives yet, and shed light on the measures being taken to prevent an outbreak.
