The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has conducted an extensive search to find the missing Indian crew member from the 'Aagalaa' boat that caught fire and sank on Monday morning.
According to MNDF, an area of 332.35 km was covered by sea and air. However, the missing man has still not been located.
The search operation will continue today as well, MNDF said.
The MNDF conducts 72-hour search operations to find missing persons.
The boat was travelling from Hithadhoo ward in Addu City to Malé. It was near Meemu atoll Thuvaru when the incident occurred. The 15 people on board jumped into the sea when the fire started; there were five locals, five Indians, and five Bangladeshis on board at the time.
After being rescued, they were taken to the hospital in Meemu atoll Muli, to be treated, MNDF said.
The boat completely burned down, and it had sunk into the ocean by 8:20 a.m. on Monday.
