The Finland International School has opened the window for admissions into Grade 1 this evening at 1500 hrs. Following the conclusion of their newly constructed school building designed to sport the largest classrooms within the country, they had also hosted a classroom viewing session for parents today.

Islanders Educations who runs the school stated that the new building was established with the largest classrooms built inside a school in the country to date. As stated by the school, each classroom is four times the size of a standard classroom in the country with a size of 2000 square feet.

The construction of a building in Lonuziyaarai magu specialized for the school is also presently underway.

Islanders Education shared that the new classrooms that are designed in an age-centric manner were built with the intention to provide a space where each child can express their unique qualities. The company emphasized that prioritizing inclusivity in their teaching methods and uniting different grades during classes will achieve important targets in the curriculum such as teamwork.

The school revealed the contractor that designed their furniture and classrooms is one of the most renowned companies within Finland for designing classrooms and furniture.

The company highlighted that each classroom will accommodate 50 students which will be supervised by a Finnish teacher and two Maldivian teachers. Notably, a SEN (Special Education Needs) teacher and an assistant teacher will also be presiding over each classroom, allowing the presence of a teacher for every 13 students inside the classroom at all times.

While the school is making preparations to educate 10th graders with the upcoming new academic year, the company highlights their school as having the best comparative teacher to student ratio within each grade.

Principal of Finland School, Dr. Eija Valanne recognized the acquirement of a newly designed, pristine building with exemplary facilities as a joyous development. She also asserted that the school’s best asset is their curriculum and their teachers, besides the flawless building and assured that the school’s highest priority is ensuring the student’s comprehension and deduction of the lesson taught over precipitously covering the syllabus.

Finland International School is presently conducting programs that trains Maldivian teachers to cease students’ sole reliance on books and educate outside standardized teaching by enlightening the students with practical lessons. This program is initiated by one of the top five universities in Finland, Oulu University.

Finland International School has now opened student admissions into 50 slots of the 1st grade. Applications for admissions into all grades can be submitted through the school website as well as the Islanders Educations website.
