The most recent update from the Ministry of Finance attests that the cumulative total of state expenditure has reached MVR6,730.0 million as of 17th March 2022.
Meanwhile, the cumulative total of state revenues inclusive of foreign grants has reached MVR5,705.0 million as of the review period.
For the period, the overall balance reflected a deficit of MVR1,025.0 million, owing to higher spending in comparison to state earnings.
Moreover, the cumulative total of tax revenues as of 17th March reached MVR4,243.7 million by the review period whereas, in the corresponding period of 2021, it had reached MVR3,389.1 million.
On the other hand, the cumulative total of nontax revenues reached MVR1,509.7 million by the review period while it reached just MVR757.6 million by the same period last year.
The Maldives state has spent a total of MVR4,655.3 million on recurrent expenses and another MVR2,074.7 million on capital expenses.
