Police has searched a location being run under the guise of a spa following intel received regarding prostitution activity and apprehended five individuals from Hithadhoo and five more from Maradhoo.
Ten individuals in Addu have been accused of engaging in prostitution related activities and taken into custody.
These ten individuals were apprehended during an operation that was conducted last thursday after receiving information of prostitution activities in Hithadhoo and Maradhoo.
While two Maldivian men and three Thai women were remanded in custody for 14 days in Hithadhoo, the island's Magistrate court had approved the procession of further investigation into their case.
Police had further disclosed that a Maldivian male, an Indian male, a Burmese male alongside two Thai women were apprehended in Maradhoo.
The Maradhoo Magistrate court had decreed that four of these five arrestees be held in custody on remand for ten days, excluding the Indian man who received a four day remand.
These individuals were arrested following inspection of a venue run under the guise of a spa.
