The Minister of Fisheries of Fiji, Semi Koroilavesau, arrived in Maldives on Saturday, to attend the 34th session of the Intergovernmental Organization for Marketing Information and Technical Advisory Services for Fishery Products in the Asian and Pacific Region (InfoFish) Governing Council meeting.
The three-day meeting is chaired by Maldives and will be held from December 16 to 19.
InfoFish is an intergovernmental fisheries organisation established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). There are 13 member states in InfoFish, including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Fiji, India, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
It is a "source of marketing support for fish producers and exporters in the Asia-Pacific, a region which includes some of the largest fishing nations in the world", said the organisation.
