Following a technical issue with Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital's (IGMH) lift, some of the services provided by the "Hiyala" wing, which is exclusive for expectant mothers and newborns at IGMH, have been temporarily relocated to Dharumavantha Hospital.

In a statement the hospital said that due to a technical issue with the elevator that transports patients up and down the wing, the services of the Hiyala Wing were transferred to Dharumavantha Hospital. As a result, the wing's services have been moved to the Dharumavantha Hospital's 12th, 16th, and 17th floors.

According to IGMH, emergency services that were provided on the second floor of the Hiyala Wing will now be available from the isolation area of the Trauma and Emergency Department. Patients who need to be admitted in the Hiyala wing will now be admitted on the 12th, 16th and 17th floors of the hospital.

The OPD services offered on the Hiyala Wing's first floor remain unchanged. Additionally, NICU services will be accessible from the Hiyala Wing's 10th floor.

Due to decreased bed capacity and reduced admissions, some services are likely to experience disruptions as a result of the changes. As a result, other surgeries that were scheduled in advance have also been postponed due.

According to IGMH, the elevator issue is being fixed as promptly as possible. The services will return to the Hiyala wing after the issues are fixed.
