PG Abbas and CP Shujau met, discussion mutual work to enhance the criminal justice system and public trust in it.
Newly minted Prosecutor General (PG) of Maldives Abbas Shareef said today that he is confident that the work done in collaboration with Maldives Police Service would boost trust in the criminal justice system.
Abbas, who was appointed last week, met with Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau today. Following the meeting Abbas wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Maldives Police Service is the most important partner in PG Office's work and that the joint efforts of the two agencies would increase confidence in the criminal justice system.
PG Office said that during the meeting Abbas assured police that their office would provide extensive assistance to expedite criminal investigations more than now.
The office also said that Abbas expressed his vision to speed up the prosecution process of cases following conclusion of investigations.
According to the PG office, Commissioner of Police Shujau also assured to maintain the close relationship between both agencies.
Following his appointment, PG Abbas also met with Attorney General Ahmed Usham recently.
