RTL high-speed ferry service commences in HA. Atoll

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) initiated Raajje-Transport Link's (RTL) high-speed ferry services commence in Haa Alif atoll.

To begin operations in the northern-most atoll in the country, MTCC had dispatched five of its RTL wing high-speed ferries to the atoll on Friday, June 24.

Two out of the three atolls in zone 1 will now have active ferry service operations; the atolls being Haa Dhaal where operations debuted first and now Haa Ali. MTCC states that operations will soon expand into Shaviyani, which also falls into zone 1.

The integrated high-speed ferry network which encapsulates the entire archipelago - with all of its administrative atolls included - while MTCC will reportedly expend over MVR800 million for the large-scale project.

MTCC is carrying out the nationwide public transportation initiative under several phases, of which the first phase included the three northern-most atolls in the Maldives.

The project includes a total of six different phases with the remaining five phases encompassing 17 of the administrative atolls.

MTCC actively building the required speed-boats that will be utilized in the Raajje-Transport Link ferry service.

The RTL services launched on Sunday, June 26, in Haa Alif atoll will operate through eight distinct routes with the commercial hub of the north; HDh. Kulhudhuffushi acting as a central point.

According to MTCC, Haa Alif Dhihdhoo will be the primary hub of the atoll's operations.
