Parking slots to be leased from Industrial Zone

Due to popular demand, Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has decided to lease parking slots from the Maldives Industrial Zone.

MPL, which currently manages the Industrial Zone, released an announcement today stating that parking slots would be leased from the area beginning from August 15.

MPL said that the slots would be leased on a first come, first serve basis. They did not specify the total number of slots that would be leased.

The company further said that they have plans to develop the area further and provide parking there with increased security arrangements.

Parking slot fees for various vehicles:

- Pick up trucks and lorries registered at Commercial Harbour - MVR 2000

- Bowser - MVR 4000

- Crane - MVR 6000

- Other vehicles - MVR 4000

MPL asked for interested persons to apply in writing, along with vehicle registry, insurance, road worthiness certificate, and in the case of fuel or gas carriers, the permit issued from the Defence Ministry. Copies of dentification documents, such as ID card or company registry, of owners or operators must also be submitted.

Even at present, there are a large number of vehicles parked in the Industrial Zone. The area was previously managed by the Male' City Council.
