Central bank Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has reprinted the MVR 100 note due to limitations in stock.
MMA said that the new notes will be released into circulation on January 19. MMA habitually reprints notes when there are stock limitations. The last instance when there was a reprint of MVR 100 notes was in September, 2018.
MMA said that these notes bear the signature of former Governor of MMA, Ali Hashim. The notes are dated July 7, 2024.
The Maldivian rufiya currency symbol is featured on both sides of the new notes.
The 'Ran Dhiha Faheh' series of notes, introduced on January 26, 2016, on the occasion of 50 years of independence, now includes notes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 denominations.
