A new generator has been transported to Haa Dhaalu atoll Vaikaradhoo and power has been restored throughout the entire island after a week.
On a post on social platform X, Fenaka Corporation Limited stated that the 250 kilowatt generator transferred to the island in order to resolve the island's electricity interruption has begun issuing electricity.
With the prolonged electricity interruption faced by Vaikaradhoo, the residential community had taken to protest on the streets of the island to express their dissatisfaction on the unresolved issue of power failure faced by the island since last Monday night.
A resident of the island revealed that Vaikaradhoo had been forced to distribute electricity to different districts at various intervals during the intervening time, with electricity discontinued every three hours.
