Fenaka has declared that efforts to transfer a new generator to Vaikaradhoo has begun in order to restore functioning power back to the island, which has been interrupted since last Monday.
Efforts to transfer a new generator to Haa Dhaalu atoll Vaikaradhoo has begun today in order to resolve their power shortage.
The electricity supplier for Vaikaradhoo, Fenaka Corporation ascertained that procedures to transfer a new generator of 250 kilowatts to the island has begun within the efforts to find a solution to the power outage in the island.
The company assured that efforts to install this generator will proceed tomorrow.
“We apologize for the difficulties faced by the people during this time. We also thank the people for the cooperation extended,” the company stated.
With the five day long electricity interruption faced by Vaikaradhoo, the residential community has taken to protest on the streets of the island to express their dissatisfaction on the unresolved issue of power failure faced by the island since last Monday night.
A resident of the island revealed that Vaikaradhoo is presently distributing electricity to different districts at various intervals, with electricity discontinued every three hours.
The hours after noon during Ramadan is the time when households begin preparing food for Iftar. The citizen who spoke earlier had shared that the residents have been encountering extreme difficulties due to electricity disruptions in households even during this time.
