Vaavu atoll Felidhoo Council has annulled its earlier decision not to render services to the debtors who owed money to the council, their spouses and kin.
The council in an announcement on Thursday, November 9 said it had revised the decision announced on Wednesday last week, by omitting the condition.
Additionally, the council has extended debt repayment from five days to three months.
The council in its earlier announce said the authority had failed to collect outstanding payments from debtors despite constant efforts.
This decision was contested by the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM), which demanded the council to annul its decision citing it was an infringement of basic and fundamental rights of the public, which the council does not have any legal authority of.
