President Solih appoints new Ambassador to India, 3 State Ministers

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Saturday, appointed Aishath Mohamed Didi as the Maldivian Ambassador to India, and Ministers of State for three separate ministries.

The parliament had earlier approved the appointment of Aishath, a representative of Jumhooree Party (JP), who served as the Minister of Gender and Family during the presidency of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. The newly appointed Ambassador is currently accompanying President Solih on a state visit to India on Sunday.

President Solih awarded the letters of appointment to Minister of State for Home Affairs Ali Nazir, Minister of State for Finance and Treasury Ahmed Shareef and Minister of State for Transport and Civil Aviation Ahmed Adhil, at a ceremony held at the President's Office.

President Solih's government has decided to appoint 39 State Ministers and 50 Deputy Ministers, out of which 32 State Ministers have now been appointed.

Each Minister of State is qualified for a monthly salary of MVR 32,000 with an additional allowance of MVR 15,000, bringing the total sum of eligible earnings to MVR 47,000.

Each Deputy Minister is qualified for a monthly salary of MVR 20,500 with an additional allowance of MVR 15,000, bringing the total sum of eligible earnings to MVR 35,500.
