Renowned business tycoon and tourism industry pioneer Mohamed Moosa (Uchchu), has donated MVR 1.1 million to Hoarafushi International Pre-School on Sunday, May 21.

The donation was presented by his daughter, Sarah Mohamed Moosa to Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Saleem and the president of the Hoarafushi Island Council, Mohamed Waheed.

During his visit on December 10, 2021, to participate in the Fishermen's Day celebrations and inaugurate Hoarafushi's ice plant, Mohamed Moosa (Uchchu) received a request from the public of Hoarafushi to provide assistance for the development of the pre-school. He had previously extended his support for the project through the island council.

Uchchu has donated a total of MVR 1,171,558 for the pre-school, which includes financial aid as well as essential items such as equipment, furniture, office stationary, and materials for the children's playground.

The international pre-school named "Cambridge International School" is expected to open in August coinciding with the start of the new academic year. The school is equipped with three classrooms, each capable of accommodating up to 20 students.

The island council had previously said that the design of the school's structure allowed for additional floors to be installed, and revealed plans to introduce primary and secondary grades in subsequent phases.
