The Health Protection Agency (HPA), on Monday, announced that 157 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives while 100 recovered from the disease.
According to the agency, of the new cases, 71 were from the greater Male’ region, 72 cases from residential islands, 12 cases from operational resorts and two cases from industrial islands.
Currently, the island nation records a total of 26,505 virus cases of which 2,735 are active cases, in addition to 23,691 recoveries and 70 deaths.
On March 12, 2020, WHO classified the spread of COVID-19 as a global pandemic. To date, the new strain of novel coronavirus has infected over 142.6 million people and claimed over 3 million lives around the world. However, out of those infected, more than 121 million people have recovered.
