President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has decided to provide former civil service employees, who left due to various reasons, the opportunity to return to employment.
The decision aims to re-enter those dismissed from civil service and those compelled to retire for various reasons. Among these are experienced professionals concerned about the lack of opportunities to work in their fields.
The Civil Service Commission issued a circular yesterday outlining the regulation for reinstating civil service staff who had to leave and those who refuse to enter permanent employment.
The regulation applies to:
- Civil servants employed in issuing licenses/registrations who retired for various reasons
- Those employed in issuing licenses/registrations who do not wish to enter permanent (full-time) employment for any reason
- Those with work scopes that can be completed remotely but left the service for various reasons
- Those who do not wish to enter permanent (full-time) employment for any reason
- Those employed in administrative positions who left the service for various reasons and those reluctant to enter administrative positions permanently (for full-time employment)
The regulation details areas where employment is not possible, employment conditions, employment methods, and other related matters.
With this new policy, if an employee is on maternity leave, a temporary staff will be hired to take their place until their return.
