Investigation is underway into the death of Zakkiyya Moosa, who was found with serious injuries in Noonu Atoll Holhudhoo.
The 50-year-old was discovered near a storeroom adjacent to her kitchen, with a large knife nearby and a severe gash on her neck by municipal workers collecting garbage that morning.

A special team of investigators, who were sent to the island, took samples and decided to transport Zakkiyya's body to Male' for further forensic examination on Tuesday night. Following the completion of the forensic investigation, the body was returned to Holhudhoo early Thursday morning and was buried later that afternoon.
Zakiyya is survived by her husband and two sons. One son lives in Male', while the other lives in the same house with his wife and child.
