A total of 50 scholarships are offered in various disciplines.
Zakat Fund yesterday opened up 50 scholarship opportunities for tertiary education yesterday.
In a special ceremony held at the Islamic Centre, it was detailed that 30 of the total scholarships would be for studying abroad.
According to the Islamic Ministry, 13 of the scholarships are designated as special scholarships. Three are allocated for medical professionals to pursue super-specialisations in urology, paediatric neurology, and neurology. The remaining 10 will support students studying fields such as Shariah, Al Qada, Tafseer, Hadeeth, Ulumul Quran, Arabic, and Usuluddeen, by covering costs not met by their educational institutions.
These 13 scholarships will be awarded to students who would study in Egypt's Al Azhar University, Medina University, Qassim University, Umm al-Qura University, Abha Univerity and King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia as well as institutions in SAARC countries.
The remaining opportunities were opened to Malaysia, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and SAARC countries. Of these, 17 opportunities were opened by Malaysia and Brunei.

- Masters of Arts in Sharia – Three opportunities
- Masters of Arts in Islamic Studies – Three opportunities Priority will be given to those listed in the register of poor and needy, and those without financial means. However, consideration would also be given to the applicant's educational level and service to the country.
The scholarship will cover the return tickets to go and return from studies, tuition fees and visa fees as well as booking allowances and monthly stipends.
