First Lady Fazna Ahmed on Thursday visited Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) of Maldives National University (MNU) to participate in events held to mark World Mental Health Day 2019.
The activities conducted by FHS include physical exercises, art stalls, psychological testing, henna and painting, mindful breathing, and circulation of mental health awareness messages.
Additionally, two discussion sessions under the theme 'Mental Health of Professions and Suicide Prevention' were organized by the faculty.
During her visit, First Lady witnessed the management and staff and students of FHS making the mental health pledge.
She also toured the stalls and observed the various activities organized by the staff and psychology students of the Department of Wellness.
World Mental Health Day is observed annually on October 10 to raise awareness on mental health issues and mobilise efforts in support of the cause.
It further provides an opportunity for stakeholders to increase dialogue on mental health issues, and discuss what more needs to be done to make complete mental healthcare a reality.
