On his campaign trail, the opposition coalition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) held a ceremony in Colombo, to meet the supporters of the opposition living in Sri Lanka.

This ceremony in Colombo marks the first appearance of Ibu alongside former President Mohamed Nasheed, ever since the coalition appointed Ibu as its presidential candidate for the upcoming election.

A great number of supporters were present at this ceremony held in Berjaya Hotel, Mount Lavinia. The supporters expressed their conviction of victory for the opposition coalition in the upcoming elections.

In the ceremony, Ibu made several pledges to the Maldivian people living in Sri Lanka.

He vowed to make improved arrangements of providing 'Aasandha', the national healthcare insurance scheme, to Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka, as well as better healthcare options.

He also highlighted the issues faced regarding higher education, and pledged to make free education available within the Maldives. Furthermore, Ibu vowed to introduce a loan scheme that would facilitate Maldivian students studying overseas as well.

Drawing his speech to a close, Ibu assured a just and impartial government, should he come to power.
