Third death in swine flu epidemic

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced a third death caused by the swine flu epidemic currently spreading across the Maldives.

The agency revealed that it was a male who passed away in an undisclosed island. HPA did not reveal further information, including the date of his death.

Two other people have passed away due to swine flu so far, a woman aged 51 and a man aged 24.

According to HPA’s statistics on Monday, the number of people testing positive for the H1N1 virus are still increasing. Total 411 people have tested for swine flu out of which 147 turned out positive.

Meanwhile, 22 people with swine flu have been hospitalised for treatment.
