A man was arrested in Baa. Dharavandhoo for terrorism accusations on Wednesday evening.
As per Police said the man was arrested during a special operation conducted in Dharavandhoo.
Even though police did not disclose more information, local media Mihaaru news reported that the man was arrested on accusations related to spreading religious extremist views.
People of Dharavandhoo link him to the May 6 terror attack against Former President and Majilis Speaker Mohamed Nasheed. However, this has not been verified by any official authorities so far.
The man arrested originally from Laamu Atoll, lives in Dharavandhoo after marrying a woman from the island.
There has been a recent increase in arrests and operations following the attack on Nasheed. Three people have been arrested in connection to the attack so far.
