Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has revealed that it is investigating the case of a cat hanged to death.

A video circulating on social media last weekend shows a cat with a noose around its neck with another video showing the same man on a motorcycle dragging the cat by the noose.

Several people on social media have called to take action against the perpetrator after the videos were released.

EPA's Director General Ibrahim Naeem has said that the cat killing has come to his attention and that the case is being investigated as it is a criminal offence to abuse animals.

It is an offence to abuse animals. According to the law, it is also an offence to treat an animal unjustly or to ignore the needs of an animal which is under his care.

This offence shall be exempted in accordance with the rules and regulations governing scientific verification, or in accordance with the rules and regulations governing the medical treatment of animals. If convicted of animal cruelty, he could face up to three months in prison.
