Minister of Education Dr Ismail Shafeeu said today that the top 10 O Level achievers will be celebrated according to the prescribed guidelines.
The High Achievers Award ceremony is scheduled to take place at Dharubaaruge on Thursday.
Parents have raised concerns on social media that only the first place achievers in the O Level examinations have been invited to the ceremony.
In response, Minister Shafeeu told Mihaaru News that there is misinformation circulating about the recognition of top O Level achievers.
"At the High Achievers Award ceremony, while students with international achievements in A Levels will receive awards, the top 10 achievers in O Levels will be celebrated according to the ministry's regulations," he said.
The recent A Level examination was conducted at 45 centers across the country, including three centers in Male' and 42 in the islands, with a total of 3,268 students participating.
More than 400 students are among the top 10 achievers.
