Minister of Environment Dr Hussain Rasheed Hassan, on Sunday, commenced an initiative offering interested citizens the opportunity to meet with him and discuss matters of environmental concern.
The weekly meetings will be held at the Environment Ministry from 0900 to 1000 hrs. Individuals that wish to meet the environment minister as part of the initiative are not required to make prior appointments.
Minister Hussain held separate discussions with two individuals during the first meeting.
Highlighting that cabinet ministers typically exclusively met with leading members of state institutions or civic organisations, Minister Hussain described regular meetings with the public as being a positive change.
Furthermore, he revealed hosting similar meetings for citizens living outside the capital city of Male' through state ministers was in consideration.
Minister Hussain revealed that responses to issues raised during the meetings would be conveyed privately to the individual at a later date.
