BCC announces 'Co-Shared Kitchen' initiative in Hulhumale'

Business Centre Corporation (BCC), on Tuesday, announced their plan to establish a 'Co-Shared Kitchen' facility in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale'.

An initiative by the Ministry of Economic Development, in partnership with the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) Maldives' 'Sustainable Economic Empowerment and Development for SMEs' (SEEDS) project, the facility is intended to aid and empower home-based businesses towards large-scale commercial production.

According to BCC, the co-shared kitchen will assist entrepreneurs that are fiscally unable to expand their businesses, including an inability to make rent for large spaces and acquire commercial-grade equipment.

"Considering these challenges, Business Centre Corporation plans to build a co-shared kitchen facility in Hulhumale', that would be the first of its kind, licensed and fully equipped food-grade commercial kitchen".

Furthermore, BCC aims to foster the development of culinary skills and bridge tourist resorts with local talents, "as the main challenge in the tourism industry is the lack of supply of local talents in the food and beverage industry".

Data acquired through the form will be utilized by BCC to design the kitchen to the requirements of potential clients and market their services at affordable rates.
