The Indian Ocean Commission announced the launch of 'Blue Champion Award' under its World Bank-funded Second South-West Indian Ocean Fisheries Governance and Shared Growth Project (SWIOFish2).
The first edition of the Blue Champion Award is open to entrepreneurs aged 18 to 40 and are citizens Cabo Verde, Comoros, Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Reunion Island and Seychelles as well as São Tome and Principe.
The applicants must operate a company or have a concept that complies with the principles of circular economy and contribute to the reduction of marine plastic pollution.
Awards will be given under the categories 'Best Ocean Entrepreneur and 'Best Innovative Concept'.
Interested individuals may submit their applications prior to 2359 hrs (Mauritius time UTC+4) on October 20.
The Blue Champion Award is supported by Eco Austral, Entreprendre au féminin ocean Indien (EFOI), Mauritius Junior Chamber International (JCI), the SIDS Youth Aim Hub (SYAH) and Synergie Jeunes as well as the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Indian Ocean (UCCIOI).
