Addu Magistrate Court added 13 days to the remand of the expatriate worker who was arrested from Addu for identity fraud.

The Indian national Gururaj Kumar was working in Aim’s Clinic laboratory in Feydhoo.

According to some Indian newspapers, Gururaj was in hiding after committing homicide. Though he was arrested with a court warrant, the police have not disclosed the charges against him.

He first came to the Maldives under the identity of Bhaskar Srivastava in 2014 to work at IMDC Hospital in Addu Atoll's Hithadhoo. He moved to Aim’s Clinic in 2016.

The Indian newspapers reported that Gururaj had confessed in 2016 to murdering his lover.

None of the authorities have stated anything on this matter yet.
