The five men got an additional 30 days of remand today.
The five Sri Lankan men arrested from a vessel that illegally entered into the Maldivian waters with MVR one billion worth of drugs have been remanded for 30 days.
The individuals are one 21 year old, two 22 years olds, a 37 year old and a 56 year old.
HDh. Kulhudhuffushi Magistrate Court remanded all five men to 30 days on 26th November, 2024. Upon the expiry of the initial remand, the court added another 30 days to the remand today.

The boat was escorted to the Kulhudhuffushi harbour by Maldives Coast Guard and Maldives Police Service. A search of the boat showed 468.6 kilograms of drugs, marking the highest amount of drugs discovered from the country in recent times.
Police said that preliminary testing showed it was 344 kilograms of meth and 124.6 kilograms of cocaine. The street value of these drugs will be about MVR one billion, police also said.
