A man suspected of playing an active role in the MVR 2.7 million Ensis robbery was arrested in Mulaku island of Meemu Atoll on September 14.

The 20-year-old in question was arrested under a court order and remanded for a 14 day period while the police investigate the case.

This is the latest in a total of twelve arrests that were made in connection with the robbery. Arrests made include the apprehension of a man found in possession of more than MVR 600,000 last week.

It has been revealed that only five of those arrested remain in police custody at present.

Ensis Fisheries company, one of the largest fish exporters in the country, has recently released a statement refuting reports that two of its employees were involved in the massive theft.

The money was stolen on July 31 by two hooded men on a motorcycle, while it was being loaded into a company van, after withdrawal from the Mauritius Commercial Bank branch in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale.
