Normalization Committee members have been granted the authority to sign cheques of Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
Normalization Committee members have been granted the authority to sign cheques of Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
FAM Acting General Secretary Mohamed Jaushan said that the Bank of Maldives (BML) has also informed that Normalization Committee members can now sign cheques of FAM's BML accounts.
Jaushan said that authorization is also being sought for committee members to be able to sign cheques of FAM accounts opened at Bank of Ceylon as well.
FIFA has been notified of these proceedings, he confirmed.
FAM, which is facing multiple money-related issues at present, normally conducts financial transactions via these two banks.
The committee has said that it faced delays in receiving this authorization due to some of the documents that needed to be submitted to the banks not being found at FAM's administration offices.
Chairperson Ahmed Zuhoor said that even at the point where the applications were sent to the bank, some of the documents had not been found at the initial phase.
He said that documents necessary for the daily functioning of the association also remain missing.
Zuhoor also said then that the association's bank accounts did not have any funds in them when the normalization office had taken over.
